Our little bonus-feature idea: The kit contains a generous amount of contrast-color yarn for two “swatches” that can become washcloths or little area rugs for the doll’s living space. This allows your child to practice the knit stitch long enough to get over the phase of mistakes and dropped and uneven stitches before he or she starts with the sweater.
For a younger child, you can make this a “you and me” project by contributing the sweater assembly after the child has knit all the pieces. We add rather high-end buttons to this kit because we all know how a precious button distracts from a little uneven knitting here and there! Use leftover yarn in all three colors to braid or twist two matching ribbons for the doll’s hair!
